Butterblock is a small bakery hidden inside an old Heritage building called The Devenish on 17th Avenue in Calgary, Alberta. We create delicious pastries from laminated dough inspired by our travels, our past experiences and sometimes even our followers! What started out as a search for the perfect cookie recipe has developed into the realization of our owner, Karen Kong's, dream.

Graduating from the Baking and Pastry Arts program at SAIT along with her self determination has led her to working as a Junior Sous Pastry chef and being a part of opening some of Calgary's bakeries including Alforno Bakery and Eight Avenue Trattoria. But her desire for the freedom to create what she wants in her own bakery quickly became an essential part in the network of coffee shops around Calgary.

Pursuing the perfect golden croissant with 81 intricate layers of butter and dough is no easy task. But alas, we have found it. And now, so have you. Whether you would like to have it freshly baked for you or take it home frozen to bake yourself, Butterblock is here to help. Let the rolling begin!
